Big Brother and the Toddler

Reproduzco sin permiso la foto de Yoani Sánchez aparecida en su columna de Generación Y.
Esta entrada es bilingue.

She is 32 years old and belongs to a new Cuban generation that was born between 1975 and 1985. Before and after the Mariel boatlift. Her parents decided to remain in the Island, so have done her. She is the speaker of the new generation that is claiming more and more freedom and the end of so many restrictions in the Island. She called it Generation Y. Because the names all started with that letter, it was an epidemic of Yuresli, Yohamba, I do not know. Never heard so many strange names in my life until I worked for the Catholic Refugee Resetlement Program in Miami during the Guantanamo exodus of 1994.

Back to the young lady. Her blog named Generación Y won a prize in Spain and the recognition of Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the year 2007. The Cuban government is playing games with her. Your "exit permit" is not ready. And the ceremony of the Ortega y Gasset Awards will be next Wednesday May 7 in Madrid. So there is a price to pay for being popular outside the Revolution.

The Cuban Government (CG) is using her as an example to deter other critics of the regime. "YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU SPEAK LOUD ANY CRITICISM". So I am begging all the readers to show their solidarity with Yoani and e-mail all over the world this flagrant violation of her human rights (the right to travel).
Visit her place at http://www.desdecuba.com/generaciony .

God bless you all!
